    THE COLOUR OF SPRING

    Jeniferever – Spring Tides (2009)

By the late 2000s, the post rock scene was stagnating. Pioneers settled with mannerisms, while their once groundbreaking formula inspired a more conventional new generation. Flirting with indie rock kept things fresh for some time …

THE WRONG SIDE OF THE SINGLE (THAT TURNED OUT RIGHT)

Fastway – Say What You Will (1983)

In the early ’80s, Fast Eddie Clarke — Motörhead’s hard-hitting guitarist — quit the band and teamed up with another rock refugee: UFO’s bassist Pete Way. The partnership didn’t last long …

THE TOP 3 JAZZ PLAYERS FROM CARTOONS

The long-standing flirtation between jazz and animation goes way back. Rather than compiling yet another list of jazz musicians who did cartoons, we decided to flip the perspective: here are three animated characters who paid their dues to jazz …

    ALICE IN NIGHTMARELAND

    Alice Cooper – Rome, October 12 2011

Alice is the finest entertainer that I’ve ever seen live. Even in his late 70s, he doesn’t spare himself. The horror props make his shows unforgettable, but they never overshadow the music …

    THE GREAT COLD DISTANCE

The Frozen Autumn – Emotional Screening Device (2002)

Eibon Records has easily been one of my favourite labels for the last 25 years or so. When you’re a music geek, sooner or later, you also start developing loyalty not just to artists but to labels too, drawn in by their identity, musically and aesthetically …

    Erasure – Indian Rubber (1990)

This was one of those completely random but intriguing finds I came across while browsing records from one of my usual dealers. It clearly looked like an unofficial release, though I had no idea what ‘Indian Rubber’ was …

David Bowie – She Shook Me Cold (1970)

After ‘Space Oddity’ gave them the first glimpse of a hit in 1969, David Bowie and his producer (and on occasion, bassist) Tony Visconti already felt that it was time for a change: …

    WHEN BOOTEGS WERE LEGAL

The first time I saw one, it was a triple cassette by Guns N’Roses called ‘Samurai’. In my limited knowledge it was clear it wasn’t something official, but only a few months later I learned that “bootleg” was the word for what I was looking at …

    ABOUT ME

When I started this website back in 2013, my record collection was unsorted, and all these years later, I still haven’t gotten around to it. That somehow reflects the nature of these pages, which cover, in a somewhat random fashion, music genres quite different from each other. That’s just what I like. And it’s not going to change, even on the day I finally put some order into that chaos.

This space is just intended to share some nice stories about records or music with whoever may be interested. As an avid music fan, I was fond of reading stories about music and records on blogs written by fellow music lovers, hence the idea of sharing mine.
