I was supposed to see one of my favorite bands tonight, Unsane, but it’s not happening. I’m stuck at home with a bad flu so, for one reason or the other, I’m missing them for the third time in a row. I saw them live 10 years ago and that night still ranks high in my best concerts list (well, I don’t actually have a list like that, but if I had to put it together that show would be in the top 10 or even top 5).

I’m bummed, but at least I’ll have some time to resume watching Stranger Things 2, which I haven’t finished yet, and to watch the Simpsons Halloween-themed marathon that will be on TV like every year. Also, this gave me time to write this post about a Halloween mix I put together a couple of weeks ago.

It’s not the ultimate mix or anything, just a bunch of loosely horror/death-themed songs that I thought flowed well together. I mixed them as an uninterrupted succession and interspersed them with quotes and sounds from movies and TV shows (mostly horror, but not necessarily). Some choices are obvious, others are not, but I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoyed making it. I tried to keep it mixed, touching different styles and picking both upbeat and mellow songs. The title, ‘Festivalbara’ (which literally means Casket Festival), is a reference to an Uncle Creepy show produced in Italy back in the late 80’s/early 90’s, and I hope he won’t kill me for “borrowing” it. Though, I must admit, dying on Halloween night at Uncle Creepy’s hand would be an epic way to go.

Feel free to use it as the soundtrack to your party or when going out for trick or treat.
